EGX London – First Contact
It’s always a big deal when you first meet your public.
Seven of the Changingday team travelled to EGX London 2022, the international games fair at ExCel, to introduce BLINNK and the Vacuum of Space to a packed hall of avid gamers over four days in September.
Around 120 people played through a 7-minute preview – and they loved it (particularly the groobs – “They’re so cute, I wanted to catch them all!”)
Unsurprisingly, given their enthusiasm for gaming, there was no shortage of autistic gamers keen to put BLINNK through their paces. It was obvious very quickly that the game really connected with them. They especially appreciated the features designed to help autistic players enjoy the full experience, and were excited to hear that the final game will include a wide range of accessibility functions.
Of course, there is always room for improvement. We also gathered invaluable feedback on where the game could be developed, which we’re already acting upon.
Last word on BLINNK’s first outing from one visitor who was kind enough to message us: “Being autistic myself and having 2 autistic children with me… the enjoyment taken from playing your game has resulted in the Oculus being placed firmly at the top of my boys Christmas list, along with a copy of BLINNK and the Vacuum of Space… It was easily one of my boys top highlights of the day.”
